Interview with Simone from CANVAS Fashions

I have had the pleasure of interviewing Simone last year, I was so happy when she agreed to be part of the series. Simone is really a Jack of all trades, she has done it all from fashion, to beauty to YouTube videos, and I’m pretty sure there is a lot more to come. Rather late than never, please meet Simone;

What made you decide to start blogging?

People used to always come up to me and ask me where I get my clothes from and what makeup I was wearing. So I decided to blog about it and later film videos, so that it would be easy access to women as well as in the comfort of their home. I am a blogger on a budget, whereby I use affordable products and shop on a budget. I’m not much of a name brand blogger and I think that is why people would stop me because it catered to the everyday working women, student or stay at home mum who wants to look beautiful without breaking the bank.

Describe your blog?

It is a Fashion, Beauty, Fashion Tips and Tricks to Beauty Tutorials that I have used daily. I also post a lot about God who is my source of strength and my family. My blog just portrays my daily interests in Fashion & beauty and inspiration from other bloggers, fashionistas and beauty vloggers. My blog is a platform to express my passion for fashion and beauty.

What is your inspiration in life, style, work, hobbies?

LIFE – God & Family

STYLE – Kim Kardashian, Blake Lively, Khloe Kardashian, Carli Bybel

WORK – Michelle Phan (fashion/beauty blogger) – To enhance beauty and fashion in the comfort of your home using affordable products. When it comes to professional working field my inspiration is EOnline. I would love to be a celebrity reporter, celeb stylist, image consulting or makeup artist and PR Manager.

When you are not blogging, what do you do?

I am with my family or friends, shopping or watching movies. I am a movie and series addict.

What’s on your wish list for summer/Christmas/Special occasions/or just for the next few months?

Hmmmm.. I would love to try out Urban Decay Naked Palettes or NARS makeup but sadly it’s not available in SA.

What do you splurge on?

MAKEUP and Clothes 😛

What are you reading right now?

Drug Muled: Sixteen Years in a Thai Prison, by Joanne Joseph

Who is your favourite local celebrity?

Lalla Hirayama, Lee-Ann Liebenberg

What is your favourite make up brand?

At the moment Essence, They are so affordable and works just as good as expensive makeup especially their liquid ink eyeliner and mascara.

Define your style?

Classy Chic with a touch of Chilled Vibe

What makes you happy?

My family and people who laugh

How do you define success?

It depends on what type of success you have. But for me if you achieved your goals and aspirations that you set then you are successful. It’s not about the money that defines you, its if you make a mark.

Your philosophy is?

I have many but I would say my favorite ones are:

If your mind is set on something go for it, never let the world tell you you are not capable, when you put your trust in God, anything is possible.

Never let the clothes wear you, you wear the clothes. Fashion is an art and you are the canvas.

Any tips for anyone who wants to start a blog?

If you want to start a blog you must be passionate about it. Don’t do it for the freebies or press kits and event invitations. If you want to impact others then do it. Don’t do it for the fame because you will not have an audience. Readers love realness. Be you and people will love you, don’t change to fit the “ideal blogger” stereotype. Also have a vision and a plan for your content and the topic of your blog. You don’t want to confuse the readers. Always check spelling and have pretty attractive layout. Good quality equals good reader equals happy blogger.
