Fevers

This evening has been a bit worrying because not only was Tazkia having a fever but the poor child had the shivers too. Now in times like this i do two things 1. Google it and 2. Call mom.

The articles suggest that when your child have a fever he/she must be hydrated and should sleep in minimal clothing so that the heat can escape. Although when your child has the shivers as well it means your environment is too cold, and when its too cold, the skin’s blood vessels shuts down and the heat cannot escape causing the temperature to increase. So sponging and luke warm baths is a no no in this case.

Mom suggested i put socks on her feet, some panado and holding her so that my body can heat her up, without increasing her fever.

I ended up giving her some stilpyn, and covered her with a thin blanket and good old tlc. Seemed to have worked…. For now…

If you have any of your own remedies you don’t mind sharing please let me know by commenting below. Night all x

  1. Suppositories works much quicker than meds, all the best, its terrible when our babies are sick

    • Thanks for responding, I do use suppositories but only after I have tried all other methods of getting my girls fever down. I read that fevers in children can sometimes mean that their body is fighting off viruses. You right most times you feel so helpless. 🙂

  2. Hello my love! I spoke with my Gran and she said what she used to do (and my mommy) I wud sit with a panty & vest, they’d ‘wipe’ me down with a vinegar cloth, TLC and she kept windows open and covered me in a sheet.

Just my little 2c worth, when I have kids, you and my gran will be on speed dial.

  3. Hey love, I know how helpless you feel but you’re right about trying to let the body fight it itself first. Its like when we get a headache our bodies are just telling us something is off balance. I do the same as you did, I leave H in a vest and nappy and put just a receiving blanket over her. If it lasts longer than 24 hours then I opt for the dr route. Keep on being that AWESOME mom you are 🙂 xx

    • Thanks my friend, i only learn from the best mom, whenever i need to know anything, you normally the first person i turn to 🙂 xxx
