Blogger Interview: Nadia from Shiny Sequins Blog

I had the pleasure of meeting Nadia at an event recently, and it really felt as if we knew each other for years and had been friends forever, but we literally just met that day. I found Nadia to be easy to talk to and so nice and pretty awesome. This blog post is another interview and this time with Nadia from Shiny-Sequins Blog. She focuses on fashion with her daughter which by the way is so stylish and she always looks lovely. If you are interested in what Nadia has to say then please keep on reading.

What made you decide to start blogging?

I always loved fashion and taking pictures and posting it, so when I discovered fashion blogs I thought to myself this is really something I see myself doing by just adding a few words and still sharing it. It was difficult creating a website and I felt like giving up in the early days already, it’s now three years later and not only did my blog grow but most importantly I met amazing people through my Instagram page and was granted great opportunities so here’s to many more!

Describe your blog?

It’s my space where I share about life’s happenings and my love for modest fashion, I also blog about events and workshops and my favourite part of blogging is doing Mommy & Mini blog posts with my daughter where we wear matching outfits and have loads of fun while doing it. People have on many occasions told me at events that we are a package and they love the duo posts of us together. I was actually in awe when I received a package with goodies for the both of us, and that’s when I realized that we are both in it and that my daughter has become part of my brand. I’m working on something for both mommies and minis so keep an eye out on my page J

What is your inspiration in life, style, work, hobbies?

My daughter, she really inspires me to be more, become more and be that perfect example (even though no one is perfect but we try for our little ones), so in whatever I do whether work or just being wife and mom I really try my best because a mother is the one person a child looks up to. For style insporation I love browsing through pics on Instagram or magazines and if I like a certain style I’ll try it out, if not I won’t bother.

When you are not blogging, what do you do?

Being Wife, Mom, doing my articles at an Accounting firm and also a part-time student can get crazy. Weekends if I’m not doing assignments or other 100 things on any moms list I love taking road trips with my family & exploring places and just enjoying the time with my family.

What’s on your wish list for summer/Christmas/Special occasions/or just for the next few months?

October is my birthday month and I’ve been eyeing a DSLR camera for a very long time so I hope somehow this post reaches my husband, (lol)

December is our anniversary month and I really wish to go away and just relax.

There’s always a lot of things on my wish list but I don’t usually get all of them and that’s okay because you don’t always get what you wish for right. Hehehe.

What do you splurge on?

Shoes,  accessories.

What are you reading right now? Who is your favourite local celebrity?

Not reading anything at the moment besides magazines.

I like too many to mention… but to name a few Jimmy Nevis, Zuraida Jardine, Jeanie D, Leigh-Anne Williams, Jo-anne Strauss.

What is your top five must have products?

Clinique Face wash, moisturizer, Evenbetter Foundation, eyeliner and lip gloss and a great perfume.

Define your style?

It changes all the time, some days I feel boho, some days chic and on work days I like a sophisticated look.

What makes you happy?

Spending time with my family makes me the happiest.

How do you define success?

Success means different things to different people but to me the successful one is the person who is the persistent one that failed many times and never gave up.

Any tips for anyone who wants to start a blog?

Just start! Golden Tip nr 1 never compare yourself with other bloggers remember everyone is different and always remember why you started. Blogging is not as easy as it looks you’ll have to put some work into it and be able to give up some of your time and lastly not everyone’s growth is the same for some it’s a bang and for the next one not, you’ll just have to have some patience it will come and don’t worry people will see your worth it’s not about the amount of followers.
