Blogger interview: Melanie Sillifant from Melanie’s Nook Blog

If you are a make up and skincare fanatic like me then you will totally enjoy this blogger Melanie Sillifant’s interview and ofcourse her blog which is called Melanie’s Nook. She covers all you need to know make up and skincare by reviewing them or just using her favorites and then talking about them without anyone asking her to do so, and she does it because she loves make up and she loves using and talking about it. If you want to know what Melanie has been up to then please keep on reading.

What made you decide to start blogging?

I have always liked makeup (and all other pretty things) and always could share it with my mom. After getting married I very quickly discovered my husband is not as much into makeup as my mom. So my blog became a place that I could share my views, my mistakes, tips and tricks with my readers. It also became my stress outlet as I have a stressful job (who doesn’t these days). Blogging took me to a happy and safe place.

Describe your blog?

My blog is a space where we talk makeup, skin care and all goodies that makes one feel and look pretty. I am also planning to branch out in the near future to include more personal posts. A little bit of a healthy lifestyle and also some everyday kind of topics to make you think about life.

What is your inspiration in life, style, work, hobbies?

I have an awesome husband who support me and my blog all the way. He is encouraging and help me think of ideas. He dries my tears when life gets too much and is there when I need a hug. I cannot live without this man in my life. He is my inspiration. And then new makeup. It is such a rush when you shop for new makeup and can finally start playing with it… I am starting to sound very similar like the girl from Confessions of a shopaholic.

When you are not blogging, what do you do?

I watch series after series after series. Loving Reign at the moment and next up is Great News. Otherwise I enjoy a good chat with friends at a coffee shop and every now and again I enjoy baking. Let’s just get this right, baking (like cakes and sweets and biscuits) not cooking… 😜

What’s on your wish list for summer/Christmas/Special occasions/or just for the next few months?

I have made the mistake of going onto the Sephora website over the weekend and now I want ALL of their holiday collections!!! LOL 😂 I’m looking forward to the MAC holiday collection every year. And then I am also buttering Hubby for a new camera (please send him a message and tell him how important a new camera is for good blog photos) 📷

What do you splurge on?

I am a firm believer of good skincare and I will beg, borrow or steal enough to always own a Superstart serum from Elizabeth Arden. Dat is uuuuxpensive like Kathleen Lights would say, but it is so worth every cent. I immediately feel a difference  in my skin when I do not use it.

What are you reading right now?

Scarlet from Marissa Meyer. It’s the second book in the series and it’s a sci-fi twit to fairy tales.

Who is your favourite local celebrity?

I am not really one to follow celebrities or their doings, but Donnalee Roberts is not only stunningly beautiful but also show that hard work will reap success.

What is your favourite make up brand?

I have always been huge Elizabeth Arden fan for skincare, but lately they have been killing it at putting out stunning makeup products as well. But my favorite eyeshadows will have to be Inglot. I absolutely love their freedom palette system and with their new eco bamboo palette, who cannot love that.

What is your top five must have products?

First off my EA superstart serum

A good mascara – Benefit Rolle Lash

A stunning blush – MAC Warm Soul

A sharp liner – Still stay all day liner

And lately I have really been enjoying the Tara & Jack Green mask from The Beautiful store.

Define your style?

When you look at my blog you will notice a tiny bit of vintage going on. In life I am a laid back, Plain Jane. What you see is what you get, and if you do not like it go look someplace else. 😁

What makes you happy?

Home is where it heart is. Home is also where Hubby and Milo (my Jack Russle) are and off course my makeup stash.

How do you define success?

Tonight when you put your head down on your pillow and you know that there is nothing you could have done better or more then you know you have given it your all.

Any tips for anyone who wants to start a blog?

You be you. Keep in your own lane, find your voice and speak from the heart. Writing is easier when it comes from the heart and channels yourself. Something I have to remind myself everyday is to not compare yourself to others. Be true to yourself.
